The Last Two Grandchildren = 18!

Yesterday, the last two grandchildren were born.   Queen Mother and I made a flying trip to Dallas to welcome my littlest nephews into the world.

Walt and Jake

My Kid #4 Sam came to celebrate between college classes and the part-time job at On The Border.   Sam is handling his tiny cousin, the husky Walt, weighing in at 4 pounds/14 ounces.   Queen Mother is drooling over her last grandchild, the lithe Jake, coming in at 4 pounds/8 ounces.

My middle sister, who is 50, delivered these two beautiful boys.   No comment.

Let's take a head count:

5 Nieces (Jamie, Caroline, Nikki, Megan, Kelly)
6 Nephews  (Kyle, Kel, Drew, Steve, Pete, Aaron)
2 New Little Nephews  (Walt, Jake)
5 Little Wizzies  (Big Chista, Rooster, Rodriguez, Bobcat, Buglet)

which equals

18 GRANDCHILDREN - not mine, but Queen Mother's.

Congratulations, Mom!  You've done a fine job.

Twice as nice?  How about twice the money, twice the clothes, twice the diapers...

All I can say is "God be with you, dear sister."  Maybe she should have adopted a couple of dogs...

Freak out!!!

  1. Your sister is a couple years younger than me. I can't imagine finding the energy to do that all over again, especially with two. But it is a marvelous gift from GOD and I think I envy her a little, forgive me. What a miracle. I'm so thankful for their health and well-being. We just cannot underestimate God's plans in our lives. Well done!

  3. God bless their sweet little lives! And God bless their 50-year old parents, too! I'm glad it's not me, but I'm a little jealous, too. I have no grandkids yet and no prospects. Congratulations to all, Auntie!

  7. I read this post on my phone a day ago. It would not allow me to leave coupons.

    First, what beautiful baby boys!

And mom at 50! I got the chills (I am 51) at the thought of saying, "Honey, we are going to have a baby."

    Congratulations to all!

Mom and grandmother are just beaming with joy, obviously.

  8. Friends, I think maybe I didn't make it clear enough. The picture with Queen Mother and myself holding the boys is not my sister. That's me. My sister, bless her heart, had just had a cesarean section. Guess you didn't recognize my picture.

  10. Congratulations on the birth of adorable twin nephews. We have twin granddaughters (they are now 13 going on 30.) Taking care of twins is not double the fun, it is exponential. 50!? We are all frightened!
