1. Do you use the labels various charities send you as “free gifts?”
I haven't bought mailing labels in years! Thanks to all you good folks out there who send 'free' labels. Can't say I reciprocate with a contribution, though.
2. What is your favorite time of day (or night) for skywatching?
I love the clear, bright night skies especially. Good for a nice walk and star gazing.
3. What is the most adventurous you've ever been with trying a new food? (Keep it G-rated please)
When I was in high school, I had a choir director that liked to barbeque wild game. He was a great hunter and would catch and cook anything - possums, skunks, snakes, rabbits - and then he would invite everyone to try his offerings. His wife would make a pot of beans. Great memory. (Sometimes the meats were not so great.)
4. Have you ever heard a rock sing? (Trust me, there's a reason for this one!)
I've heard rock-n-roll and rock stars. A rock sing? I don't think I've ever listened to a rock. Think I'll go find me a good rock today. I'll let you know.
5. If you could learn a language you don't presently speak, what would it be?
Took Spanish in my early years but have lost a lot, too, just from not using it. Would like to speak French and go to France. I've heard they are really snobby unless you can speak French.
6. Al Capone's tombstone read, “My Jesus, Mercy.” If you could write your own epitaph, what would it say?
"This world is not my home; I'm just a'passin' through..."
7. If you were a famous musician who was known by one name, like “Cher,” “Sting,” or “Jewel,” what would it be? It doesn’t have to be your first name, but it can be, if you’d like.
After I married, my nickname at my job places was "Ms. Wiz." Some funnybone called me "Whiz." Maybe just "Wiz."
8. Have you ever been inordinately “into” a television show?
The last good show I was "into" was Dallas. That dates me, huh?! Husband likes 24, but I currently like White Collar just because the men are so dang good-looking. Dancing With the Stars is pretty good.
9. When you sneeze, do you go big, or do you do that weird “heenh!” sound that makes people think you’re going to blow your brains out? Any other variation we should know about?
When I sneeze (or cough), it ain't purdy! Definitely have the legs crossed. It's embarrassing in public.
10. Do you still read an actual newspaper that you hold in your hands, or do you get your news elsewhere?
I still enjoy a good newspaper, but I normally watch FOX news for information. Periodically, I'll look at the internet.
11. Are you a good speller?
My mom and I are spellers and always look for spellling errers. Reely, we do. It's our game.
12. At what time each day do you start thinking about
I don't really think about lunch so much as dinner. Since I don't particularly like to cook, it's a chore that I do because I have to, even though I am a good cook. So, I start thinking about something to cook around 5 p.m. But, I've never seen Lost. Is it any good?

Please keep my kid#4 Sam in your prayers. He had an accident on a Dallas freeway last night that totalled his car. He's fine, thank the Lord; those angels were doing their jobs, but he'll have to resort to the bus system for a while. If you are in the Dallas area, he works at the original On the Border on Henderson/Knox (north of downtown), so stop in for a meal and leave a large tip! Thanks.
See you in the funny papers.

Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the questions in your post today and really get a kick out of answering that type of quiz.
I'm so sorry your son was in an accident but was spared injury (by the grace of the Lord). If we still lived in TX I'd mosey on down to Border and leave a great big tip for Sam but it's a little too far to travel from NC for a meal. Love reading your posts and keep you and your family in my prayers. Wish I could figure out how to start my own blog but have no idea what I would say that would be of interest. Jeanette
As homeschooling moms, don't you think we look for spelling mistakes out of habit? I find myself editing the newspapers AND I find a lot of mistakes! Glad to hear your Sam's ok. That's a long way to drive to leave a tip; could ya just send me a self-addressed contribution envelope?
ReplyDeleteChicklet
glad he is okay...will pass it on to tip Sam extra good...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jeanette, Chicklet, and Deb, for your sweet sympathies for Sam. He's back at work tonight (took the bus), and he's doing ok but is sore. Said he and friends may be able to fix the car and beat out the hood. Ooooh boy! :) Jeanette, write about yourself and whatever is on your mind. Hey, if I can do this, you can, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun introduction to your blog. I found your link at Brenda's (Coffee Books) and I felt drawn to your face.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to try this random dozen list... I always enjoy these kinds of things. Give you prompts of ideas that get a person thinking outside their 'normal' box.
Happy Day! Brenda
Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that was close! I am glad your son is okay. I wish I was in his neighborhood, I would go give him a big tip. My heart always goes out to the kids waiting tables. My oldest daughter did that for a while, she wasn't very good and we had lots of phone calls where she would cry her heart out to me. But, it made her better a person. And me too, for that matter. I am much more compassionate than before it touched me personally.
Beth Moore has a blog, it's at living prood ministries dot blogspot dot com and the post about the discussion group was dated Friday January 29. I think it is the third one down. You can click to her from my page if you want and then add her to your list. I have it set for the 25 most recent postings to show but if you click on the "show all" it will list all of them. I have a lot so I thought it would just look a little cleaner that way.
Great post you have. I love the answers people give to random questions like that. Fun stuff. Also, I'm a little nervous now, thinking of you guys reading my writing and finding all the mistakes. I proof read this one, hope I caught everything.
Hope you all are staying dry and warm right now. We have had rain today and snow this evening. Maybe it will fill up the tanks or ponds depending on where you live, right. :)
Anyway.........I'll give this page back over to you, got a little carried away here, kind of acting like it's my own page.
Have a great night my Texas friend.
I miss those old night time soaps like Dallas and Knots Landing. Those were the good old days! LOL!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your son's accident. Glad he's OK and tell him that the Dart is not so bad. :)
Hey Giblet - I like this post. Might have to try it myself! I'm glad Sam is okay. Sounds like a very close call - I'm glad his guardian angels are keeping an eye on him. Poor guy. If I'uz in Dallas I'd go leave him a big ole tip for sure. He's gonna need it! I learned to be a bigger tipper after my daughter worked in a restaurant for awhile. Now, when we go eat, she really scolds me if I don't leave enough. Once, she orderd a piece of cheesecake at Border, and she left a bigger tip than what the cheesecake cost - ON MY DEBIT CARD!!! She said, "Mom I couldn't leave just a little bitty tip!" I told her she could leave big tips on HER card, not mine!!!
